Preparing STL Files

Your design must be a three dimensional solid object in order to output an STL file suitable for a SLA build. To save time and file size, export your STL file as a binary file. We strongly recommend you preview your final STL output. MiniMagics and Solid View Lite are both STL viewers that can be downloaded for free.

Here are some guidelines that may help you prepare your STL files using various CAD packages:

ENGINEER 2001

  1. File>Save a Copy
  2. File Type>STL
  3. Set Chord Height to 0. Pro/Engineer 2001 will substitute a minimum acceptable value.
  4. Set Angle Control 1
  5. (OK)

Pro/ENGINEER 2001i2
